Scavenger Hunt at a Mandir - Economical yet Effective Experiences for your child
What can a community offer - Are you a Mokshaverse Maverick
Imagine . .
You want your child to explore the stories from your scriptures
How would you do that
You may expose them to YouTube videos
or you can ask them to read the stories on the internet
but authenticity, screen time, inappropriate content and advertisements, etc are the challenges
We suggest parents try connecting 21st-century skills and gamification with ancient stories to build experiences for children
Why we recommend ‘experiences’
Suppose you enter a large experience space, where you can see the Samudra Manthan live in front of your own eyes
or you enter a set where a very large dense forest has been created. It is Tadka Van.
And the fearsome Rakshasi Tadka is waiting just for you
or you enter into an Escape Room full of brain-teasing puzzles, just like Lara Croft the Tomb Raider did, to crack a code on how Dhruva attained the lap of Lord Vishnu
Such was our wish when we wanted to build Mokshaverse
But we knew, it would require a lot of money, an enormous amount of money
and we did not have that kind of money
And we decided to build a community that is focused towards creating economical yet effective experiences
To sustain our initiative we decided to develop a product line that would include
board games,
card games
and printables.
But, our first focus was to build a community of parents, who would like to share the stories from our scriptures with their children.
Every week we will release a wonderful idea that may help you create/join experiences to introduce Sanatan Dharma concepts to your child
Today we want to share the idea of a Scavenger Hunt at a Mandir
Through a scavenger hunt, your child would try finding things in a particular zone
Suppose you plan to go to a Mandir along with your child.
Let;’s imagine this is the temple of Bhagwan Vishnu
So you give your child a paper where some words are printed, which must be available in that Mandir
The child can take a board and a pencil along with this sheet. Now one has to find these things in the Mandir and once it is found, one should put a checkmark on the associated square,
They may take the help of the internet or anyone in the temple to find the answers.
This way not only they will find this game interesting, but they will also learn about these things.
Twist that a community could add
In the beginning, we thought that we would create such sheets for different kinds of Mandirs for example Shakta Mandir, Shaiva Mandir, Vaishnav Mandir, Ganesh Mandir, Surya Mandir etc
The problem was that not all temples were the same
for example, you may not necessarily find Nandak in every Vishnu temple, we want to customise these sheets
You can help
Can you please create and contribute a Scavenger Hunt Sheet/s for your nearby temple? Submit it to us with the details of the temple and your name.
Now this sheet will be available to all people in our community Free of cost. When your friends are visiting that temple with their children, they can download it and will realise that the sheet has your name on it.
Will you help us make at least ONE Scavenger Hunt?
See you next week with another idea
